Wesak 2009 Programme
Wesak at the Hidden Gardens
Saturday May 16 2009
Welcome to the fifth celebration of Wesak at the Hidden Gardens when we recall the life of the Buddha. Wesak is a chance to remember the story of how the Buddha gained Enlightenment and to reflect on what it might mean for individual Buddhists to move towards Enlightenment themselves. Our theme this year is Engaged Buddhism. This refers to Buddhists who are seeking ways to apply the insights gained from their meditation practice and dharma teachings to situations of social, political and ecological injustice. Throughout the day there will be information, craft and activity stalls throughout the Hidden Gardens and Tramway.
Wesak at the Hidden Gardens has been made possible through the support and organisation of Kagyu Samye Dzong Glasgow (formerly Rokpa Glasgow), Scotland’s Buddhist Vihara, the Cloud Water Zen Group and the FWBO Glasgow Buddhist Centre.
Please note that parts of Tramway are in use for events that are not connected with these celebrations.
May those involved be happy and well!
With thanks to the staff of the Hidden Gardens and Tramway for their help and support.
